I’m the new manager of Harpole Day Nursery, starting at the end of July 2013. I have a BA(Hons) in Applied Studies Early Childhood and have Early Years Professional Status, Level 6.
What is your childcare background?
I have three daughters aged 21, 18 and 14. In February I became a grandmother to little Hayden who is of course adorable.
After I left college in 1984 I was a child’s nanny in a private house for two years. I then went into retail management
for several years until I had my first daughter, when I became a childminder and eventually the manager of a Pre-school. That was 7 years ago. One degree and an Early Years Professional Status later it was time to move on.
I’m now moving to Northamptonshire from Lincolnshire and very much looking forward to taking up my position as manager at Harpole and meeting the children and parent/carers.
Who is special to you?
My three wonderful daughters and my amazing and beautiful grandson are obviously very special to me. I have a lovely large old golden Labrador named Muzzy, who LOVES people but it is not so keen on my tabby cat called Jeremy who does like to pounce on him.
There isn’t enough space to write all my favourite things! But here are a few; the stories children tell me about their home, holidays, visits and days out. Seeing the children grow into capable little individuals. Watching as their confidence grows to join in with other children and contribute to activities.
What makes you smile? 🙂
My children and grandson obviously. Sometimes even my cat and dog! But Wild Poppies are what really makes me smile, I love them, the splash of red in a field or at the side of the road always brings a smile to my face.
